Weave collective action

Motherhood in the Colony is more than just a storytelling project…

it is a tool for truth-telling, education, and healing.

Witnessing the film is a deeply emotional experience; one that invites you to feel, connect, and build solidarity.

Our Storytellers recommend that you gather in community to experience Motherhood in the Colony. By bringing people together, you create space to process emotions, foster critical reflection and draw vital connections between shared struggles.

Whether hosted in your living room, local school, hall, workplace, or online, the project’s intention is to inspire meaningful dialogue and action that strengthens solidarity movements.

Motherhood in the Colony can be screened from Mother’s Day - 11 May 2025 - onwards.

We invite you to register your interest using our online form, and we'll ensure you receive the right information to help you plan a powerful experience for your community.

Screening guide

As a host, you can license the film and organise the event to suit your community. Maybe you’d like to share a meal, exchange poetry, sing songs, or engage in a panel discussion.

Whether or not you intend to ticket the event, we encourage you to consider:

  • Meaningfully prioritising Indigenous voices in event planning

  • Creating safe spaces for reflection

  • Supporting cross-cultural connection and collaboration

  • Providing pathways for collective action

Sharing culture is sharing
a promise

“I felt like the shared culture, the songs, the poetry, the weaving, the food; we broke bread together.

It's kind of a promise for the next million years or generations that we are here together.

This struggle is mutual.

This fight is one towards freedom.”

— Aseel Tayah (Jerusalem born, Qalansawa and Taybe, Palestine)
